A few months ago I covered the pro’s and con’s of having a band or a DJ at your wedding. Once you have that figured out it is time to move onto the music selection. Each band and DJ specializes in a different music style when they perform, but it also a good idea to come prepared with a list of songs that you would like to hear at your wedding (and those that you want to avoid). You want your guests to have fun out on the dance floor, not avoid it because of bad music. So to help you in making sure you have an amazing playlist I have put together a list of songs that are guaranteed to get everyone out on the dance floor at your reception!

1. “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang
2. “Brown Eyed Girl” by Jimmy Buffett (anything by Buffett is a good choice)
3. “I Gotta Feeling” by The Black Eyed Peas
4. ‘ABC” by The Jackson 5
5. “Crazy in Love” by Beyonce feat. Jay-Z
6. “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” by Queen
7. “Dancing Queen” by ABBA
8. “Marry You” by Bruno Mars
9. “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” by Whitney Houston
10. ‘Love Shack” by The B-52’s
11. “Cha Cha Slide” by Mr. C the Slide Man (or any other popular new “line dance” like the Wobble)
12. “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd
13. “Sweet Caroline” by Neil Diamond
14. “(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life” by Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes
15. “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey (Best Last Group Dance Song for any event!)

It is also a great idea to ask other married couples and the DJ or band leader what songs they have found popular from other weddings. And if you really want to make sure you have a great playlist for your special day just ask your guests. A popular trend that I have seen is to include a line on the RSVP card where those attending can write down a song they would love to hear at the reception. Can’t get any easier than that!

Do you have a favorite song that you love to hear at weddings and events?

xoxo
