While this may not be the most festive day to  celebrate (thanks Hurricane Arthur!) it still doesn't mean that you can't have a fun red, white and blue filled holiday weekend - even if that means you have to postpone those fireworks by a day to keep America's Birthday Party rolling! So whether you are heading to the beach, hosting a cookout or catching a ballgame this holiday weekend I hope you all have fun!

What are you doing in celebration of America's Birthday this weekend? My fingers are crossed that my dad didn't go too crazy with his fireworks purchase this year - but that is wishful thinking!

Happy St. Patrick's Day to you all! While I have been snowed in, yet again, (Don't they know the first day of spring is THIS Friday?!?!) I am still getting in the green spirit today with my shamrock socks. I just couldn't resist!
Maybe I will get a little inspired and whip up one of the Irish dishes I shared with you all last week or just enjoy a delicious Irish beer while I finish up filling out my March Madness bracket. I am hoping some of this Irish luck will rub off on my March Madness bracket this year! You can start a pool in your office (with or without prizes-bragging rights are enough in my office) by sending this bracket PDF from ESPN.com to all your co-workers. Good luck!

This has been one crazy week! From the President coming to town to getting snowed in with over 14 inches of snow I have completely lost track of my days. This morning I finally went out and played some in the snow (yea!!) and created this cute little Valentine's Day heart to celebrate today's holiday. So from a snowed in blogger to everyone out there Happy Valentine's Day!

If you are still in need of a cute gift for your Valentine this year (and if you had a week like mine I wouldn't blame you!) try this cute homemade fruit roll-ups fortune cookie DIY from SheKnows
You can include your own adorable Valentine fortunes like "Sweets for my Sweet" or include some cute inside jokes that you share with your cutie. These fortune cookies are fun to make and enjoy! For a full step-by-step on how to create these treats check out the tutorial here.

There are only a few hours left until Santa climbs down the chimney to deliver presents but until then there is still plenty of time to mix up some egg nog, enjoy a gingerbread cookie and watch A Christmas Story for the 5th time today. Today I have been a busy little elf delivering bags and boxes of homemade Christmas goodies to our family friends so I cannot wait to sit back and enjoy all the festivities this evening. So from my family to yours I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!!
And remember you are never to old to believe in a little Christmas magic! I hope you all have an amazing Christmas with your family and friends!

Happy Thanksgiving to you all! I am so very thankful for being able to do this blog and for all of you who take time out each day to follow along. In celebration today I have already finished the traditional 10K Turkey Trot with my sister and now am off to an afternoon of family fun down at the river. I can't wait to see what goofiness we get into this year! I also made some cute Thanksgiving goodies for everyone and can't wait to share them with you on Monday! I hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating with your own families!

And for those of you who are venturing out to conquer the Black Friday (Thursday) sales here are some great tips to keep in mind:
1. Make a Plan.
Go through all the ads to figure out the logistics for your shopping adventure. Make a list of the gift items you are planning on buying, from where and at what time each store is opening. Just keep in mind that not every store advertises their sales so don't leave them off your list!
2. Bring Food.
Since Black Friday shopping now starts as early at 6pm on Thursday and can go until noon on Friday make sure you bring a snack (or two) as well as something to drink. That is what all those Thanksgiving leftovers are for right?
3. Dress Comfortably (and stay warm!).
If you are on the east coast it is going to be a little colder than normal this year on Black Friday (it's going to be in the upper 20's in Virginia!) so make sure you layer up if you are going out. Layers are also perfect on Black Friday so that when you get into the store to shop you can take off your jacket (or two) and not over heat.
4. Bring Your Friends!
Black Friday shopping can only get better if you bring along a friend or two. See who can get the best deals and when you all are done shopping and need to warm up, everyone can head out for a nice late night or early morning breakfast.

Happy Thanksgiving to you all and be safe if you venture out to take on those Black Friday (or Thursday) sales!

Halloween is the one day of the year that it is totally acceptable to dress up in a fun costume no matter how old you are! With me being such a huge craft nut I love it when someone goes all out and actually makes their costume from scratch. This year I took on the task of creating my own Halloween costume for a party I went to this past weekend. Here is a little sneak peak at what I dressed up as this year...
You will have to check back in on Monday to see my entire costume creation! Can you guess what I was? I hope you all have a wonderful and safe Halloween!

While I am not one who likes to see summer come and go so quickly, I do love to welcome the start of football season during Labor Day weekend. Normally during Labor Day weekend I just stick with going to the football season opener, but this year I could not resist taking one last trip down to the beach before the event season starts back up at work. (And who can really ever say no to a day or two at the beach?!?) Whether you are celebrating today with a backyard cookout, at a parade or at he beach I hope all of you are having lots of fun this Labor Day weekend celebrating in true red, white and blue style!

What are you doing in celebration of Labor Day? Happy Labor Day to you all!

Happy Fourth of July to you all! Today is sure to be filled with fun times out in the sun, an evening of fireworks and of course the entire day completely decked out in all things red, white and blue. I hope that you are all having an amazing time with your friends and family celebrating. Are you as excited as I am to watch a fireworks show tonight? It is one of my favorite things to do when we comes down to the river for the 4th!
