Whether you are fixing a cocktail for one or for twenty there is nothing better to enjoy during the summer months than a nice refreshing summery drink. Of course everyone has their favorite summer beverage of choice, mine is anything with fruit. There are so many amazing fruits available during the summer that with the perfect drink recipe make amazing cocktails. My favorite summer fruits are watermelon, strawberries and peaches so when I find a summer cocktail with one (or more!) of those ingredients I cannot wait to try it out. Here is a great summer cocktail recipe that will use any and all of the summer fruits you like best.

Start with a basic white sangria recipe. I really like this one that I made over 4th of July Weekend by Bobby Flay (with a few tweaks of course). To make the basic sangria first mix 1 bottle of white wine, 3 oz brandy, 2 oz triple sec, 3 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 cup of juice (orange or pineapple works well) and a handful of fresh basil or mint leaves all in a large pitcher.

Next add cut up pieces of your favorite fruits (about 4-6 cups). I love using strawberries, watermelon, peaches and oranges but anything you pick out will work.

Finally mix everything together and serve over ice. Now it is time to enjoy your summertime fruit sangria!

I am a huge fan of sangria as they don’t have a lot of added sugars like some summertime frozen concoctions. The majority of the sweet tastes come from the juices of the fruits you add in. And of course the my favorite part is eating the left over fruit at the end.

What is your favorite summer cocktail to enjoy?

Moving into a new house? Need a bachelorette or bachelor party idea? Are a soon to be bride and groom hosting a joint shower? If so this is the perfect party theme! This is a great way to have fun, show off a new home and of course celebrate with all your friends while stocking the bar for the next party you will soon be hosting.

No matter the occasion, as the host of a stock the bar party there are a few things that you will need.
Drinks
Even though this is a stock the bar party you still want to make sure to have plenty of drinks available for your guests during the party. Your guests may bring nice bottles of wine or other drinks that you will want to save for later and not open during the party.
Snacks
What party would be complete without something to eat? You can go heavy on the snack foods and dips as most guests will be socializing and/or checking out your new home during the party and not want to sit down to eat. I love all these mini snacks which are perfect for an event like this.
Invitations
Don't be shy when it comes to stating on the invitation that this is a stock the bar party. If you are getting married make sure to register for a good amount of bar accessories and for those celebrating a new home be prepared for all kinds of silly bar accessories. This is a theme that everyone enjoys shopping for and you never know what your guests are going to bring. Maybe something like this gift basket below?
Favors
A nice way to say thank you to all your guests for helping you stock your bar is with a nice favor. A great go-to gift idea is to make custom koozies that your guests can use during the event and take home with them.

The great thing about this party? You don't need any major decorations. If this doesn't sound like a party to you without decorations you can always buy some festive tablecloths, plates, napkins and utensils. For the centerpiece you could use empty liquor and wine bottles as vases.

What is your favorite thing to give when attending a stock the bar party?

A great way to cut cost and add a personalized touch to your wedding is to offer His and Hers cocktails at the wedding reception. This is a great cost cutter while still providing many drink options because you won't be offering a full liquor bar (which can add up to a pretty big bar tab). For someone who loves personalized touches at events (ME!) this is allows you to create a cute customized drink sign, share your favorite beverages with your guests and maybe even add in cute colored straws to coordinate. Here are some great His & Hers drink ideas that are sure to be a hit at your wedding.

His and Hers Wedding Drinks: Golden Groom and Blushing Bride #PreppyPlanner
One of the more common His and Hers drink selections are the golden groom and blushing bride. Martha Stewart provides great drink recipes for both of these yummy drinks.

Golden Groom
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and then add the 2 oz tequila, 1/4 cup pineapple juice, 1/2 cup orange juice and a splash of pomegranate juice. Shake well and divide between two highball glasses. For the final touch add an orange peel for garnish.

Blushing Bride
Run a lemon wedge around the rim of the glass and garnish with pink sugar. Next fill a cocktail shaker with ice and pour in 2 oz vodka and 1/2 cup pink lemonade. Shake well and pour.

Most of the time when a signature drink is offered at an event every guest will give it a try. So to help with cutting down on the wait time at the bar a customized drink sign is the perfect solution. You can find great ones already designed on Etsy or if you want a fun DIY craft project you can even make your own.
His and Hers Wedding Drinks: personalized glasses #PreppyPlanner
And the best way for the bride and groom to enjoy their delicious His and Hers drinks? In adorable glasses like Two of a Kind Hiball Glasses these from Kate Spade! The two of you will not be able to misplace your drinks if you have these for your wedding day.

The best tip that I can share with those who don't know what type of His & Hers drinks to serve: go with something seasonal that fits with your theme. If your favorite drink is a frozen margarita and you are hosting your reception on the beach I say go for it! However, you don't want a blender making your favorite beverage at a wedding in the mountains in January. Head over to your favorite bar and consult the bartender there on what they think would make the best His & Hers signature drinks.

What drink would you create for your His & Hers cocktails?

As with every shift in fashion you will see similar changes in designs and of course events. While I love the simplicity of basic white on white china I love to check out new ideas and see what is influencing the accessories of an event like new china patterns, utensils, serving dishes and table settings. At some events the table setting is the main decorative piece so you want something that will lend itself to your overall creative idea, not look outdated or out of place. A few weeks ago I shared with you a great guide on the proper way to set your table for your event. So for today’s post, thanks to BizBash and a few other ideas I found, I have 10 perfectly on-trend table settings to help you create your next event table setting.
1. Preppy Twist from Party Rental Ltd.
2. Olympic Gold from from Something Different Party Rental
3. Modern Drama from Paterson Party Center
4. Exotic Sparkle from Atlas Party Rental
5. Farmhouse Chic from Tablescapes
6. Gatsby Inspired from Classic Party Rentals
7. Silver Simplicity from Chair-Man Mills
8. Pretty in Pink from BBJ Table Fashions and New England Country Rentals
9. Tropical Brights from BBJ Table Fashions and New England Country Rentals

From running a Very Groovy 5K to enjoying some time down on the water this past holiday weekend was filled with fun times by all. Going into the weekend the only expectations I had were to spend as much time as possible outdoors (making sure to wearing sunscreen so I wouldn't get burned of course!) having fun. Before the holiday weekend kicked off I even got to spend some time in the kitchen creating cute red, white and blue mini cupcakes for the weekend. I had so much fun spending time with my friends and family this past weekend. Check out some of my favorite pictures from this past weekend below.

To kick off the weekend, one must always have some patriotic accessories. Here are the red, white and blue mini cupcakes I made as well as my uncle's golf balls for his 4th of July golf outing.
A trip down to the river is never complete without an afternoon of crab picking. This was the perfect 4th of July lunch caught and prepared by none other than my uncle.
As per tradition, we headed out onto the river to catch some 4th of July fireworks. Here is half our group out on one of the boats before the firework show began.
Friday a few of us headed out onto the water for some tubing. My sister and our friend (left) were the first to head out before I jumped onto the tube (right). At one point we drove through some jumping fish and one hit me on the tube!
All ready with the family to run the Deltaville Groovy 5K race on Saturday morning. We all walked away with a race day finishers medal and my dad and sister got an extra one as they each placed 2nd and 3rd (respectively) in their age groups!
What did you do this past weekend?

To me nothing could be more festive than a summer wedding. When choosing your wedding date many soon to be bride and grooms will choose one of the multiple red, white and blue holiday weekends. Hosting your wedding during one of these holiday weekends can provide for the perfect red, white and blue party theme. Today I have put together some great ideas if you want to create a stars & stripes themed nuptial.

Place Cards: Star Tags. This Etsy find is perfect for creating your guest’s place cards. For the crafty brides out there this is also a great DIY project that you could take on.
Table Decoration: Patriotic Star Table Runner. This star-studded table runner would be great on top of a white linen for a cake or gift table.
Place Setting: Star Napkin & Stripe Napkin Holder. Stick with bright white china in clean shaped to accompany this starry napkin and grosgrain stripe napkin holder.
Cake: Modern Stripes. You can still have a beautifully decorated wedding cake by going with a more modern take on the stars and stripes theme like this mod red and blue striped wedding cake.
Wedding Favors: Star Spangled S'Mores. S’mores, the perfect treat to give out at the end of a wonderful evening. You can setup your own fire pits or send your guests home with the treat bag to make at a later date.
What do you think about this stars and stripes wedding theme?

I can’t believe it is already July! I just cannot believe where the time has gone and the year is already have-way gone! On a lighter note this past week was a pretty good one. My parent’s celebrated their 31st anniversary, I tackled an art project that I had sitting around for a while, whipped up another pinterest recipe, headed out enjoy some music during Friday’s After Five, took a break by the pool to catch up on some reading and started getting ready for the July 4th holiday weekend down at the river. Over all it was a pretty relaxing week. Check out my photo recap of this past week.

I had fun in this kitchen making this Creamy Shrimp Pasta with Mushrooms and Peas recipe I came across on Pinterest with a few recipe tweaks.
I brought out my paints for a little painting project.
Enjoyed a night out listening to some music (and staying in the shade) at Charlottesville's Fridays After 5.
Took a break on Saturday at the pool. I was able to catch up on some reading with my latest Martha magazine.
A glass was raised to toast to my parent's 31st wedding anniversary! Cheers!! (Those were part of their gift from their darling children.)
Now I just need to figure out a fun dessert to take down to the river this weekend. Any suggestions on a fun 4th of July themed dessert?  Have a wonderful day!
