Happy Father's Day! I don't think that I could have asked for a better dad growing up. Between me, my sister and my brother he had his hands full. This is a picture of my dad, my sister and I when I was about 2 years old. I can't believe how times flies!! You can just tell that my dad is just loving every minute of being a father:)

I hope that you are able to spend some time with your dad today but if that is not possible don't forget a nice phone call is always much appreciated!  What are you doing with your dad today?

Happy Father's Day Dad!!

We all know that food is the way to a man's heart and today's Friday Food feature shares some great ideas that you can whip up for your dad. I loved finding so many great "tie" themed food ideas for the Father's Day holiday. Enjoy!!

(p.s.-Even if you aren't the best cook in the kitchen these are simple enough recipes that anyone can make them for their dad.)
Enjoy a "Tie" Pancake Breakfast idea from My Insanity Tie-riffic Father's Day. All you need to do is get an empty old fashion mustard container that has a pointed nozzle. Draw the outline of your design, let it sit for a few seconds and then you fill it in.
For the father with a sweet tooth a Necktie Cookie is perfect for your dad. This great idea is from Munchkin Munchies who gives great step-by-step instructions on how to make these cookies.
The Idea Room has created a great "tie" craft that you can use to decorate your father's favorite beverage. They even provide you with templates for this craft so it cannot get any easier!

I think I might try those Tie Pancakes on Sunday. What are you doing for your dad this  Father's Day? I would love to hear your plans below! Don't forget you can find these great ideas and more by following me on Pinterest!

For this week's wedding Wednesday I am going to keep in style with the theme this week, all about dad. (Don't forget Father's Day is this Sunday!) With every wedding you normally have the traditional father-daughter dance between the bride and her dad. This is a great moment that the bride and her father share and is a great opportunity for the bride to incorporate her father into the wedding planning process.

As with any event planning decision this one is important as it will stay a fond memory for both your dad and for you. Here are some great suggestions for your own father-daughter dance for a wedding or any occasion:

"In My Life" by The Beatles
"My Little Girl" by Tim McGraw
"The Way You Look Tonight" by Frank Sinatra
"Daddy's Little Girl" sung by Michael Buble
"Can You Feel the Love Tonight" by Elton John

Some of these just make me tear up just listening to the song. No matter what song you choose, any song that you and your dad share a great memory together can be your father-daughter dance song.

What song would you choose for your father-daughter dance?

With Father's Day coming up this Sunday I thought it would be appropriate to share some fun things that you can do with your own dad. Here are my Tuesday Top Ten list of things that you can do with your dad this Father's Day!

1. Cookout

They always say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Since you already have Dad's heart a great way to tell him "I Love You" can be to fire up the grill and make him his favorite dish. Here are some great Father's Day recipes from Martha Stewart.

2. Go Fishing
Help dad enjoy his afternoon doing nothing but hanging out with his kids and catching some fish. In Richmond a great place to go fishing is down on the James River.

3. Go to the Pool
Whether you have a pool in your back yard or in your neighborhood, taking dad to the pool on Father's Day is always fun for the whole family.

4. Relax at the Beach
My family has taken my dad down to Virginia Beach a few times for Father's Day. Last time we went there was a volleyball tournament going on and lots of vendors set up which added lots of fun activities to our day. This weekend is the Virginia Beach Boardwalk Art Show and Festival.

5. Watch the Race
When you live in the south you will find that dad's love watching the race. This weekend is the Quicken Loans 400. Prop dad up at the TV and the race starts a noon.

6. Watch Golf
If dad is more of a golfer than a NASCAR fan this is the perfect afternoon activity for him. This weekend is the U.S. Open with the first rounds on Thursday and the finals on Sunday. Rory McIlroy will be back to defend his title. Last year my uncle and dad went up to the National and worked the tournament and loved every minute!

7. Go on a Bike Ride
If you dad is more of an outdoors kind of guy taking dad on a bike ride is a great way to spend time with him. You can go for a spin around the neighborhood after a nice lunch (see idea #1 for some great food ideas!).

8. Treat Him to the Movies
With so many great movies coming out this summer taking dad to the movies can be the perfect Father's Day gift. A great family fun movie that is out right now is Madagascar 3.
Don't forget to purchase your tickets ahead of time so that dad doesn't have to wait in line!
9. Play a Round of Golf
What dad doesn't love to play golf. Even if you are not a avid golfer you can take dad out and drive him around the golf course for a round or organize a fun dad's round with his friends. If you don't want to send him off playing by himself get the whole family together for a simplified version and go play some putt-putt.

10. Go to a Baseball Game
This year my sister, brother and I are taking our dad to see the Nationals play against the Yankees. My dad is a huge baseball fan and has not been to see the Nationals play so we thought that taking him to a game this year would be the perfect way to spend time with him.

No matter what you choose to do with your dad this Father's Day just spending time with him can be the best present you can give him. What are you going to do with your dad this Father's Day? Share your plans below!

Happy Monday everyone! I had such a crazy, non-stop weekend at my friend's bachelorette party. I could not wait to share the weekend recap with you.

Friday night when everyone got there we had dinner and drinks.
Can't forget those yummy desserts. I made the dessert toppers in just a few easy steps for the occasion. Or you can buy them off of etsy.
To make the dessert toppers I bought a sheet of scrapbook paper, printed out a sheet of "e's", bought 2 different sized paper punchers and bought some toothpicks. I used a 1.5" punch for the colored paper and a 1" punch for the "e." I then took the "e" put a piece of tape on the back, centered the toothpick on the printed paper and then attached the "e" to the printed paper.
Here are the favor bags that I put together. And of course the Bride-to-Be all blinged out!
After dinner we all went down to the dock to watch the sun set before we kicked off the night.
We played a few rounds of "Who Am I." I was Michael Jackson during one of the rounds. Here are some other great game night ideas from Lauren Conrad.
The next day we started out with some drinks and pool time.
Followed by a trip out on the boat. We even got to see another wedding all set up for Saturday evening and the "Just Married" sign on the boat they would be departing on.
Enjoyed some Chesapeake Bay blue crabs, a river staple.
And then went out for a night on the town. All the girls and I wore black with the bride-to-be in a bright colored dress, which I think looks amazing in pictures. Cheers!
The Bride-to-Be and her bridesmaids as well as a picture of the Bride with her MOH.
As you can tell we had a lot of fun this past weekend and are counting down the days till the wedding! A lot of planning went into the weekend and everyone had a great time. If you have a bachelorette party coming up and need some ideas you can check out these posts for some ideas:

We all know that when it comes to a good party it is pretty important to also have some food available for those that need something to much on after a few celebratory drinks. I am making some cute themed cupcakes for the weekend once I get to our house for the weekend so that they don’t get messed up during the drive down. I didn't make these (I wish!) but here are some great dessert ideas that you can use at your own or the next bachelorette party you attend.
"She Said Yes!" Cookies by Kooking in Kate's Kitchen
Lingerie Cookie Pops by Delish Bake Shoppe
Cosmospolitan Cupcakes by Bakingdom
Bachelorette Themed Dozen by Richmond's Frostings Cupcakes

What is your favorite bachelorette themed dessert idea? Don’t forget that you can get updates from me each day by signing up for The Preppy Planner’s daily email by going to the Follow Me page. This way you won’t miss out!

Check back on Monday when I will be sharing pictures from the weekend’s festivities! Have a great weekend!!

If you remember on Tuesday I gave you my Top Ten Bachelorette Party Ideas. This weekend I will be going down to The Rivah to celebrate with the girls for Emily’s Bachelorette party. No matter what your bachelorette party location there are some great party favors, decorations and games you can pick up to help celebrate the occasion. Here are some of the items that I found that are great for any bachelorette occasion.
Every Bride-to-Be needs a little fun bling to wear.
What is a party without some games to play?
You can't forget your drinking glass (or shot glass ring)!
Go all out decorating and don't forget to play GNO (Girls Night Out)!

I bought most of my favors and decorations from Party City and Hobby Lobby in Richmond and you can also find great DIY ideas and favors on etsy. If you are really crafty you can make your own banners, party buttons and jewelry for the bachelorette party.

What is your must have item for a bachelorette party?

So last night I finally got around to going to an Innsbrook Afterhours concert and had so much fun. Gretchen Wilson, 3 Doors Down and ZZ Top performed and the weather could not have been better. Here is a picture of my BBF Wanda and I with ZZ Top performing in the background.
Now that I have regained my hearing from last night I have something fun to share with you today! As with any occasion the host normally get or makes favors for all those in attendance. Wedding favors can range from the bride and groom donating to a cause that’s important to them, a box of candy, a jar of homemade jam or a personalized favor. Here are some favors that I have from past events:
So as I have been sharing I am planning a bachelorette weekend for my BFF Emily, who is getting married in 2 ½ weeks. (yea!!) Here is a little craft that I have put together for all the girls going on the bachelorette trip this weekend. I found the tumblers from Walmart, bought the ribbon from a craft store and ordered the vinyl decals and stickers from etsy store We Speak Vinyl
Here is the final product.
Now I only have 9 more to make! I will share all the finished products next Monday during my weekend recap of the whole weekend.

What favors have you made or received from an event? Share a link to your picture below or tag it @PreppyPlanner on Pinterest. I love finding new ideas for favors and you can find some more of my favorites on Pinterest.

This week I am getting everything ready for my BFF Emily’s Bachelorette Party that is this weekend. I have planned a fun weekend down at the River (or as some may refer to it the Rivah). Emily will be finishing up teaching this week and just wanted a fun and relaxing weekend where she can get some sun before her big day (18 days to go!). With that inmind we will be having some fun in the sun, enjoying cocktails by the pool and celebrating in style!

When it comes to deciding what to do for a bachelorette party it is important to take into consideration the bride’s opinion and everyone’s budget. Other than that you can organize and plan most any type of trip and deem it bachelorette worthy. Here are my top ten Bachelorette Party Ideas:

1. The classic Vegas trip. Enjoy a little gambling while also being able to get in some sun at the pool or beach.
2. A night of laughter at a Comedy Club. Most cities have great comedy clubs that you can reserve a VIP table for a night of stand-up.
3. Can’t go wrong with a Beach Weekend. Enjoy some fun and sun with a weekend or day trip to the beach with a fun night out after a day of sun. At Virginia Beach there are always festivals and beach concerts going on all summer that everyone could enjoy too.
4. Enjoy a festive day of Wine Tasting. This is a great option for the fall and spring as most vineyards are located in Virginia are located in  the mountains with gorgeous scenery.

5. Bring the whole wedding party together for a Jack & Jill Party. If you want to bring the whole group together before the big day a his & her’s Bachelor/Bachelorette party is the thing to do. You can also add fun his and hers themes for everyone to dress up as to make it more festive.
6. Rent a limo and go Bar Hopping VIP style with your girls. If you want to have fun and safe evening you can have everyone meet together and get picked up by a limo for a VIP evening. You can bar hop and explore the nightlife while being driven around and then have a classic sleepover at your host’s house at the end of the evening.
7. If you just want a relaxing day of pampering have a Spa Day. This party can even be hosted the day before or day of the wedding as you can incorporate the bridesmaid’s hair and nail appointments into the plans.

8. Get all dressed up in sundresses and big hats for A Day at the Races. Every preppy girl loves pulling out her favorite Lilly or other sundress, and decking out for a fun day at the races. It doesn't have to be for the Kentucky Derby, but most tracks host multiple races all spring and summer long.
9. You could also wear those dressed for a fun afternoon Tea Party. Every girl, when they were little, loved dressing for a pretend tea party. Now you and your girls can go out and enjoy the prim and properness of a true afternoon tea.
10. And last but not least get all the girls together for a Scavenger Hunt. You can have the hunt take place while out on the town or just at someone's house and make the winning prize some fun drinks or event souvenirs.

No matter what you decide to do don't forget to have fun!
